1. Preparation
a. Connect PS/PSI via USB interface, wait for driver to install. Make sure, only one PS/PSI 8000 is connected to the PC.
b. Make shortcut on DC output. Cable cross section must be sufficient for the max. current of your device!
c. Switch on device
d. Start PS8000_offset_tool.exe
2. Tool
a. Click button 1. Wait for the device to be found and correctly displayed in the 6 fields.
b. Click button 2.
c. Click button 3. A field “Offset in Ampere” will appear:
i. The device will set 0 A. If there is a positive current offset it will be shown, like in the screenshot above.
ii. Field “I monitor” will show a value, most likely negative.
iii. Adjust that value downwards, i. e. increase it by steps of 1 or 10 with the small arrows or enter it directly with the keyboard. Continue increasing “I monitor” until “Offset in Ampere” reaches 0. Best is to have the offset be a little over 0, for example 0,001…0,003 (models with 2 decimal places for current on display) resp. 0,01…0,03 (models with 1 decimal place for current on display)
d. Click button 4.
e. Click button 5.
i. The device will set max. current now! Another field “Offset in Ampere” will appear (beneath button 6), showing the offset (negative or positive) at max. current.
ii. Repeat the same procedure as in step 2-c-iii. with the “I select” field next to button 6. Rules:
1. If offset is negative, make value in “I select” positive.
2. If offset is positive, make value in “I select” negative.
iii. Adjust the value in “I select” until “Offset in Ampere” shows almost zero. It is recommended to keep a small positive offset.
f. Click button 6.
g. Click button 7.
